- The mood starts calm. Everything seems normal. But, towards the end, the mood is sad and overall gloomy throughout the story. Same with the tone, the tone is not happy, it also sets a gloomy feeling.

- The setting in The Scarlet Ibis is on a South, Cotton Farm. The narrator is sitting in a cool, green-draped parlor.
- The characters in The Scarlet Ibis is the older brother (narrator), his younger brother Doodle, and the mom and dad. Side characters include Aunt Nicey.
- The conflict is Man vs. Self. The older brother lets his pride get the best of him and tries to change Doodle because he was embarrassed of him. He pushes past the limits.
- He embarrasses me.

- The Scarlet Ibis is a truly gloomy but heart-touching story. A story that teaches you so much more than you realize. The Scarlet Ibis is about an older brother (Narrator) and his younger, but paralyzed brother, Doodle. Narrator wanted a normal brother who could fill the role as a brother. Narrator let his pride get the best of him, he felt embarrassed of Doddle and tried to change him not realizing there would be consequences that follow.Doodle dies after Narrator pushes him too hard to keep up with him in the rain. Narrator realizes what he did was wrong and the guilt swallows him, seeing he was the storm and Doodle was now, his fallen Scarlet Ibis.
- I had no idea what belonged in this box so I will do the moral of the story. The moral of the story is that you never know what you have until it's gone. You should never try to change someone because they are not what you want them to be. Narrator was lucky to have a brother at all, Doodle was paralyzed but still his brother. He should have been enough for Narrator but he wasn't. Narrator had his selfish ways and didn't realize what he had and how much Doodle meant to him until he was gone.
