I don't think we should give Amara an iPad. All she will do is play games on it and make it do her school work. She will depend on it!

That is false. Amara does not have access to game on her AT. She uses the AT to communicate, she has a choice board to put sentences together.
It helps me do my work, not do the work for me. I am very smart!
She also does not depend on it, it is actually a tool to use to increase independence. Amara being able to communicate helps her learn and engage in class and with peers

She doesn't need it though.
Sure, Amara will live with out the use of her AT. However she will not have the tools to give and get education. Her AT is a gateway to be successful in the real world.
We all rely on out phones to get through the day and the world and we don't need it but, it makes our lives easier. That's what it does for Amara.
