Hey Bill Nye that's a nice lookin plant I have always wondered how photosynthesis works and how makes oxygen for us
Well Finn lets start from the begging the process of photosynthesis all starts from the water all around the plants the sunlight from the sun and the c02 witch is all around us!
Thats pretty sick bill tell me more!
Well Finn with all of those ingredients the plant is able to produce important nutriance such as glucose. this all happens in the chloroplast The first step of photosynthesis happens in photosystem 2 (which is in the thylakoid membrane). This fist step is where rays of sun light break down water molecule's and separate them into hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is released through the stroma. and the hydrogen is sent to the lumen.
Interesting keep going!
Well finn next up is when the hydrogen(high energy electrons) gets sent through the electron transport chain to the next stop in are journey witch is photosystem 1.
OMG I cant wait to hear about photosystem 1!!
.Well then let's get started. The first step when the not so high energy electrons get to photosystem one is that they get another boost of sunlight witch re exites them. They then get moved down to the stroma Then the electrons combine withs transport molecule's such as NADP+. (witch comes from ATP synthes witch is the transfer of electrons in the inter membrane space to the stroma through a synthase enzime )The NADP+ becomes energised and it picks up the hydrogen ions and some protons(h+) to become NADPH.
Wait im a little confused can you fully explain how the atp synthase accrues?
Sure I got you to clarify the Hydrogen ions in the inter thylakoid space move to a lower concentration through a atp synthase enzime where ADP is transformed into ATP witch is a very important thing for all life. Next stop Calvin cycle
Thanks for the clarification bill I am so exited for the Calvin cycle
Well then lets get tight to it! the process of the Calvin cycle starts with three carbon molecules that combine with an ensime called RuBisCO. Rubisco helps bring carbon to the living world through the process of carbon fixation and crates 3-PGA. Next up some of the ATP from the light dependent reation helps transport the 3-PGA to meet up with NADPH and it makes the NADPH back into NADP+H+. This turns into six G3P, one of witch is used as a building block for sugars such as glucose. The remaing five molicules of GA3P contines and is recycled to for RUBP witch will combine with Carbon to re start the cycle.
