Text z Príbehu

  • I, Abraham, present to all of the Jewish religion, the Torah! God has promised my descendents and I, Canaan, the promised land! We shall leave at once, herd the animals!
  • Hmm... I wonder if the Isrealites will try to overthrow me... I better enslave them.
  • Egypt! I curse you, for god has told me to free my people, and you refused!
  • In the year 1700 BCE a man named Abraham lived in Ur, Mesopotamia. At some point, according to the Torah, or the Hebrew Bible, Abraham made a covenant with God. In this agreement, Canaan would belong to Abraham's descendants.
  • Jacob and his family moved to Egypt because of the famine in Mesopotamia. Once they arrived, the Pharaoh treated them like slaves once they settled since he thought they would try to overthrow him.
  • I am your lord! I give you the Ten Commandments Moses!
  • Moses was a Israelite who was adopted by the Pharaoh's family, God wanted him to free his people and guide them out of Egypt, he asked the pharaoh if he would free his people, the pharaoh, fearing they would overthrow him, said no, so God brought the ten plagues upon Egypt.
  • Ahhhhhhhh!
  • After the first plague, Moses asked the Pharaoh again, will you let my people go?, but, the Pharaoh refused. this happened 10 times, on the final Plague, God created a plague where all newborn boys in Egypt would be killed, to prevent this, the Israelites put lamb blood on their door, this would trick the angel of death and they would fly over the house, thus giving the name, Passover, the Egyptians however, did not know of this, and all of their newborns were killed. This was to much for the Pharaoh, so he let the Israelites go, shortly after, he changed his mind and sent his army after them, Moses and the Israelites had reached the Red Sea, so he split the sea apart, once all the Israelites crossed, they closed the sea, killing the Egyptians.
  • The ten commandments are God's rules, Moses received through God. The 10 Commandments are important to Jews, Christians, and others today, is because they are their source of ethics.
  • Soon after the Israelites received the commandments, they continued their journey to Canaan. In fact, according to the Torah, Moses saw Canaan from a mountaintop, but he died without entering. So his deputy, Joshua, was appointed leader. They entered Canaan from the east, the first city they conquered was Jericho, they soon conquered many other kingdoms.
