It's okay if you don't find love, since love isn't always what it appears to be and isn't everything. However, love should be something with which you can be at comfortable, whether it is with yourself, other people, or your family. But, doubts and insecurities might make it difficult to connect properly with others.

However, I assume Millay was referring to anything other than food in a roof. She wants you to know that love should be for the little things like food and helping others who are in need. Rather than buying materialistic gifts for others for an example. She wants you to know that helping people with their circumstances or any situation where they actually need real love is what it after all.This quote, relates to the theme by showing people's awareness for the value of love.

I had no idea where she was coming from when she said fractured bone. However, the sounds of words, bring, the literal meaning of statements.

What I understand what she coming from her experience is to connect with others and be benefited to help them when they are in need, which she feels as love. From this quote, it seems that she is lonely and wanting love in difficult times. What I mean is that she is looking for unconditional love, and not attention love. What also relates to the theme is her statement that love must have some benefit, and that someone's reasonable may not be as guaranteed.
