- I love God!
- God chose David to be the next king of Israel. Why? Because David had a heart like God’s, full of love, courage, and kindness.

- King Saul was jealous of David. He didn't want him to be king!
- David must go!
- David had to run away. But even though Saul wanted to hurt him, David trusted in God.

- But David remembered something important...
- God chose Saul to be king. I must not hurt him.

- David could have hurt Saul, but he didn't. He only cut a small piece of Saul's robe.
- Why didn't you stop him David?
- Because I trust God to make things right. I will not do wrong to someone God has chosen.

- David showed mercy. He showed the heart of God.
- King Saul! I could have hurt you, but I didn't. I don't want to harm you.
- You are a better man than I am David. May God bless you!

- When David spared Saul, he gave us a picture of something big: God's plan to save us

- That's redemption! Like how Jesus forgave us on the cross!

- He's in charge and has a perfect plan!
- He forgives me even when I mess up!

- David was called "a man after God's own heart" because he loved what God loved.
- God, help me to follow you always.

- You can have a heart like God's too. By showing mercy, trusting his plan, and loving him with all of your heart!
- Dear God, help me be like David and love you every day, Amen!
