We have seasons because Earth's axis are tilted. Earth rotates on its axis as it orbits the Sun.
(December)
It is winter in the Northern Hemisphere because the North Pole is tilted away from the sun.
The Sun is shining directly onto the Southern Hemisphere. It is summer here.
(March)
The sun is shining equally on both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. It is fall in the Southern Hemisphere, but Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
(June)
The Sun is shining directly onto the Northern Hemisphere. It is summer here.
It is winter in the Southern Hemisphere because the South Pole is tilted away from the sun.
(September)
The sun is shining equally on both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. It is fall in the Northern Hemisphere, but Spring in the Southern Hemisphere.
Because the Earth is always rotating on its axis, sometimes the North Pole is facing the sun (usually around June) and sometimes it is tiled away from the sun (around December).
