- You could become rich. You could become instantly famous. Of course, you can be a prodigy too.
- Conflict
- I began to cry. Such a sad, ugly girl. I made a high-pitched noises like a crazed animal.
- Rising Action
- He stood behind me and pushed down on my shoulder for every beat.
- Jing=Mei's mother came to America for a better life. She heard that in California you can be famous for doing almost anything. Her mother wanted Jing-Mei to be a child prodigy. The mother told her that she could be famous, rich and be able to do anything she wants once she's famous.
- Climax
- ```The sour notes staying with me all the way.
- After Jing-Mei figured out how much work goes into being a child prodigy and her mother getting disappointed because she can't do everything her mom wanted her to do. Jing-Mei tried to make her mom proud but somethings were not made for her. She started to cry into the mirror and say all these bad things about herself because she feels like a failure. She was over trying to impress her mother.
- Falling action
- I wish I were dead like them.
- Jing-Mei's mother asked one of the neighbors if he could teach JIng-Mei how to play the piano. Her mother wanted her to play piano so she could be famous. But Mr. Old Chong was deaf, after Jing-Mei noticed this she pretended to play the notes right even though they sounded bad. When he touched her shoulders to feel the vibration of the piano it felt right so he didn't say she was playing it wrong.
- Resolution
- She forgot that she couldn't play properly because she was distracted by how pretty she looked. She started to play in front of everyone and after the first few notes she started to hear all the sour notes. She was playing. she got embarrassed while she was playing. After she finished playing the song she realized she was shaking. She went back stage and started crying.
- Jing-Mei and her mother were arguing back and forth. They both were mad at eachother. Jing-Mei brought up that she wishes that she were dead like the other kids. The mother was surprised. She walked to her room not saying anything.
- After Jing-Mei's mother passed away they offered her the piano. When Jing-Mei was 30 she got the piano. She started to try to play the songs that she use to play. After playing them she relied the two songs go together.
