Text z Príbehu

  • Šmykľavka: 1
  • When the last leaf falls... Ill be gone too.
  • Johnnsy and Sue are two young artists living together in Greenwich Village. When Johnnsy becomes seriously ill with pneumonia, she begins to lose hope. As autumn leaves fall from the ivy vine outside her window, she believes her life will end with the last leaf.
  • Šmykľavka: 2
  • She has a chance but only if she wants to live.
  • Sue realizes Johnsy's greatest battle is not her illness but the hopelessness she has accepted.
  • Šmykľavka: 3
  • What foolishness! Leaves don't decide a person's life.
  • She believes she'll die when the last lead falls
  • Although Behrman appears gruff and stubborn, he secretly decides to help his young friend.
  • Šmykľavka: 4
  • During the storm, Behrman risks everything to paint one final leaf on the wall so Johnsy will believe it will never fall.
  • Šmykľavka: 5
  • It.. it's still there.
  • Seeing the leaf survive the storm gives Johnsy a reason to believe she can survive too.
  • Šmykľavka: 6
  • That wasn't a real leaf. Behrman painted it during the storm.. And he caught phneumonia and died.
  • His masterpiece gave me hope.
  • Behrman never became the famous artist he dreamed of being. Instead, his final painting became a true masterpiece because it saved another person's life. The story reminds us that hope, kindness, and selfless sacrifice can change someone's future.
