I know! We add Maine as a state and to make it more fair we should make it to where slavery can not be allowed above the 36 30 line!

What do we do with the new territories acquired from the mexican-american war and california
I think we should let the local government's of new Mexico and Utah territory choose if they want to be free or a slave state.
I also think we should add California as a free state because it will keep the balance between free and slave states!

How will we get the souths support of anything we are doing?
Both these territories are above the 36 30 line so what should we do?
What are we going to do about this?
I know! We can give the south a chance for these places to be slave states but that means we must remove the rule about the 36 30.
I think we should introduce this thing into the territories called popular sovereignty. Its where the people of the state vote if its free or a slave state!
We need a solution... quick!
