- During the 15th century, new countries in Europe were being formed. They wanted and competed for power and riches. Asia was a place that had many riches and the cheapest way to get there was dangerous and time consuming.
- "Are we there yet?"
- Then, a man named Christopher Columbus convinced the rulers of Spain to allow him to sail a faster route to Asia.
- "Ok, we will allow you to take this journey. We will provide you money as well."
