- Suddenly, the sun came out and shone down on the flowers.
- The garden of tulips sits happily, secure in the fact that they are the most superior flower.
- This newfound strength made Sandy the Sunflower realize that she did not deserve all of this negativity.
- The tulips noticed that something new was growing. Because the new flower was not like them, they hated it.
- It was a sunflower that had just been planted in the tulip garden. There were no other flowers around like the sunflower.
- "Your petals are a strange color. They are not a pretty pink like mine." mocked Lizzie the Tulip.
- Poppy the Tulip said, "You are right. We are so sorry. Even though you look a little different, we should still accept you and treat you with kindness."
- The tulips were very mean to the sunflower, just because it was different. They said...
- Then suddenly, the baby tulip speaks up and says, "I think she's pretty!"
- "What kind of strange garden do you come from" asked Poppy the Tulip.
- "Quiet baby," commanded Poppy the Tulip, "We do not like new kinds of flowers around here. If they are not a tulip, they are bad!"
- "I'm not from a garden." said Sandy the Sunflower.
- From then on, the flowers accepted anything new that came into their garden and treated them with love and respect!
- Sandy the Sunflower became very sad and felt like no one liked her.
- "A wildflower! Ew!" exclaimed Emma the Tulip.
- Sandy the Sunflower rose above all the tulips. She was bigger, prettier, and stronger than all the other flowers.
- Sandy the Sunflower said, "You all should not treat me like this. Just because I look different, does not mean I am any less than you. I am still a gorgeous flower who deserves respect and love."
- "Thank you. I appreciate that. After all we are all flowers and, on the inside, we are all the same!" responded Sandy the Sunflower
