Earthquake Epicenters are not randomly distributed on earth. They occur wherever two tectonic plates meet.
HOW ARE THE EATHQUAKE EPICENTER DISTRIBUTED?
Most volcanoes are found along a belt, called the “Ring of Fire” that encircles the Pacific Ocean. Some volcanoes, like those that form the Hawaiian Islands, occur in the interior of plates at areas called “hot spots.”
WHERE THE VOLCANOES LOCATED?
Mountains form where two continental plates collide. Since both plates have a similar thickness and weight, neither one will sink under the other.
