- In 1896 Plessy . Fergusan case creates the idea of "separate but euqal" clause. It was implemented on May 11, 1955 just one year later, when Warren read the unanimous decision, "with all deliberate speed". Despite this decision there was a lot of vague wording, which was the resistance to the Supreme Court rulings. In the South, segregation was enforced by law. Schools were divided by race.

- Children that were of color weren't allowed in only white schools since they came from lower backrounds or it would put at risk their social economic norms. These kids went to school but it was often far away from home, underfunded, overcrowded, and had outdated and fewer resouces and help from the government or from those around them. While in those "white schools" they had a lot of financial support and more opportunities that they took for granted. As well as districts prioritize white schools since that's where the rich were coming from.

- Parents were fed up with how there children were being treated everywhere especially in school premises. They began to sue school districts demanding change. And the stereotypes that they inflicted.
