very good question! the "three sisters" style of farming is popular with native americans and other farmers, they use wheat, milet and corn and all grow together,
why are there three different types of seeds?
a modern way that was built off the three sisters is backyard gardening, growing many herbs and vegetables /fruit, many farming methods can be traced back to basic farming, wanna know more about that?

after the last ice age, the usually nomadic tribes settled down and made farms, very basic, small and rudimentary, it worked but its showing that after all this time it bleeds through history and ends up in our own homes and gardens,
