Someone steals food because they don’t have money to pay for their own. Sarah stops someone from telling on him, believing that social agreements can be disobeyed if they don’t promote the good of society.

Eventually, Sarah tells the authorities to be more mindful of people’s problems and work to help them more, even though she risks getting kicked out of the school for telling them what to do. She believes that because this school’s laws doesn’t agree with the universal principles of justice and equality, she is following her conscience and instincts instead: to speak up and change things.
