Hey Ms. Boucher. I was hoping to speak to you about possibly having an author come in to talk to the students.
Hey Cassandra. That sounds great! Can you tell me more about what you have in mind.
Well, the grade 11s are reading the Handmaids Tale for their class. Kern Carter is an amazing Canadian author and I was hoping to ask him to come in.

Carter, is a Canadian author who has written a bunch of well known novels including, "Is there a boy like me?" "And Then There Was Us" and more.
Interesting. How did you get a hold of him? What's the cost and how are we planning on covering this?
The Writers Union of Canada has a list of authors that have workshops set up and prices set. They want to come to our school. We can get the funds through the recent LLC nights that we have been hosting, since selling baked goods and local donations has gone so well.

Yes! The author I've selected represents diverse voices and experiences, which supports CRRP. Students will read the author’s work ahead of time, participate in discussions, and develop questions to ask. I'm sure it will be a huge hit! I have already spoken to the grade 9 and 10 teachers too and they are on board with it
