  • Šmykľavka: 1
  • The court is buzzing with energy. Alex, Jamie, and Taylor are pumped for a Math-powered Basketball challenge like no other.“Alright, time to use some math to sink this shot!” Alex says, tossing the basketball. “We’ll use sine, cosine, and tangent to calculate the perfect angle. Let’s see who can nail it!”Jamie and Taylor exchange excited looks, ready to bring their math A-game to the court. “Let's do this!” they shout.

  • Alex takes the first shot. He stands 7 meters from the hoop, and the hoop is 3 meters high. “Let me start with sine,” Alex says, positioning himself. He knows that sine involves the opposite (the height of the hoop) and the hypotenuse (the diagonal distance). Alex does the math in his head: sin(θ) = 3 / 7Now, Alex uses the inverse sine to calculate the angle: θ = sin⁻¹(3 / 7) ≈25.4°He smiles, knowing the angle is 25.4°. “That’s a good start,” Alex says, passing the ball to Jamie.

  • Next up, Jamie takes a shot. She’s standing at the same spot, but now she’s using cosine to double-check the angle.“Let me check the horizontal distance with cosine,” Jamie says confidently. She knows the adjacent side (the distance from the hoop) is 7 meters and the hypotenuse is 7.62 meters (calculated earlier using the Pythagorean theorem).cos(θ) = 7 / 7.62Jamie calculates:θ = cos⁻¹(7 / 7.62) =23.6°“Looks good, but now let’s see if tangent works better,” Jamie says, passing the ball to Taylor.
