- Lets name him Martin. Martin Luther
- Indulgences? Paying to go to heaven? This isn't right, I must do something.
- These indulgences are expensive.
- It will be worth it when i'm in heaven
- Hopefully that will teach people about the real God.
- Martin Luther was born on the 10th of November 1483 in Eisleben. He took the customary course in the liberal arts and received the baccalaureate degree in 1502.
- Now that I have translated the Bible, people will know about the true nature of God.
- During 1517, in Wittenburg, Germany, Martin realised that the catholic church were selling indulgences. Forms that were signed by the pope to forgive people of their sins and allow them to enter heaven. This illegal practice sparked a fire inside of Martin to change the churches ways.
- Because of the recent protesting started by Martin Luther. I hereby EXCOMMUNICATE him!
- To spread the word of God, Martin Luther used the printing press and wrote 95 theses. These theses explained how the bible is the centrepiece of the Catholic religion, and that humans shall reach salvation if they have faith in God. Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the door of the castle church in Wittenburg. This action marked the start of the protestant reformation.

- Martin Luther also translated the bible from latin into his native language, German. This lead to people being able to read the bible and understand what the church should be like and that they should rely on faith to grant them salvation. This caused an uproar as people stopped buying indulgences which meant that the Church started to lose power.
- The Catholic church didn't like that martin Luther was protesting against them and removing some of their power. To stop this, they took action and decided to excommunicate him. This meant that he was banned from entering Wittenburg and couldn't partake in any religious sacraments.
- After Martin Luther was excommunicated, The Council of Trent was formed. The Council of Trent was the formal Roman Catholic reply to the doctrinal challenges of the Protestant Reformation. They created a legal document that stated that they no longer supported indulgences and they went on to train their own priests. The Council of Trent took half of the 95 These, and put them into action to gain more followers.
