Hello, my name is Bridget Bishop, and I am here to tell you about The Salem Witch Trials...
The Salem Witch Trials began in spring of 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts and ended in 1693.
They were a series of hearings and prosecutions for people, especially women, but also men and children, who were accused of witch craft.
And of those trials...
..I was the first victim...
I was 60 years old when I was falsely accused for witchcraft.
I had a husband and three, loving children.
And like me, those who were tried and convicted.. were executed, usually by hanging, but sometimes by burning or drowning..
But...those who were accused and tried, were not accused because they were seen practicing witchcraft or communicating with demons, they were accused if they looked strange, if they were childless, elderly, if they an unexplained illness, and other, far more bizarre, reasons.
That year in Salem, Massachusetts, during the With Trials, thousands of men, women, and children were executed...
However...in May, 1693, The Salem Witch Trials, in Salem, Massachusetts, came to an end.
