- Booth escapes Ford's Theater
- Seward is attacked by Lewis Powell
- "The comic line spoken by Harry Hawk, "You sockdologizing old mantrap," was followed by an explosion of laughter from the audience. The black powder charge exploded and spit the bullet toward Lincoln’s head. The muzzle flash lighted the box for a moment like a miniature lightning bolt. Had Booth succeeded?" (Swanson,39)
- Booth crosses the Potomac with his companion Herold but row to the wrong spot
- “As Booth moved across the state heading for the wing, one audience member heard him say to himself ‘I have done it’” (Swanson,45)
- Garret locks Herold and Booth in the tobacco shed thinking they'll steal horses.
- “Then Powell made a mistake that jeopardized hiede whole mission. Instead of trying to fire again, Powell raised the pistol high in the air and brought down a crushing blow to Fredricks head.” (Swanson,53)
- The army comes and tries to usher Booth out of the shed while a rogue officer shoots him.
