Sir Gawain came to King Arthur in a dream to warn him of his impending doom at the hands of Mordred. He tells him to get help from Sir Lancelot. King Arthur must get good.

King Arthur gathers his knights and bishops to discuss his dreams. The knights plan then plans to settle a one month status quo, so that Lancelot's knights might come and help them.
My king, I cannot continue to help you

Both King Arthur and Sir Mordred agreed to peace, however, one of Arthur's Knights drew his sword to attack a snake. Sir Mordred then declared they would fight.
Farewell good King Arthur!
King Arthur and SIr Mordred duke it out in an all out fight. Only Arthur, Mordred, Bedievere, and Lucan remain. Sir Lucan is mortally wounded, and Arthur charges towards Mordred, however, he is fatally injured and falls to the ground.
King Arthur is slowly dying, and Sir Lucan succumbs to his fatal injuries. In the last moments of King Arthur's life, he tells Sir Bedievere to throw his sword back into the lake.
King Arthur is finally taken away to heal to one day return. Sir Bedievere, the lone survivor of the war, throws the Excalibur into the lake after the third time.
