- at last by starvation, he decides to ask his friend the miserly ant to help him
- dear ant please please grant me shelter from the rain and a mouthful of grain.i promise i'd repay it tommorrow
- the ant asked the cricket what he was doing in the summer
- i'm your seravnt and friend but we ants never borrow; we ants never lend. but tell me dear cricket did you lay nothing by when the weather was warm?
- the cricket said that he spent the summer singing
- my haert was so light that i sang day and night, for all nature looked gay
