On the night of Trinity Sunday king Arthur has a dream. He is turned from his throne and falls into the water full of snakes. He is then told by Sir Gawain that he and sir Lancelot will slay Mordred.

Arthur and Mordred make a pact that if any sword shall be drawn that a war will be started. Thereafter a knight is struck by a snake and draws a sword therefore starting the battle.
“If I throw this rich sword in thewater, thereof shall never come good, but harmand loss.”
Arthur's forces are dwindled down to the two brothers Lucan andBedivere, while all of Mordred's men are dead. Arthur is filled with rage and kills Mordred.
“what man is there here interred thatyou pray so fast for?”
Lucan succumbs to the injuries that he suffered from the battle, but only after rescuing Arthur and dragging him to a safe place. it is described that his guts fall out and Arthur mourns over how great a soldier he was.
Bedivere is tasked with throwing the legendary sword into the lake before sailing Arthur on a boat. He hesitates twice with doing the task and lies to Arthur about completing it. The third time he completes the task and hand purges from the lake and grabs the sword.
Before Bedivere arrives at a hermits place, Arthur is carried and buried there by multiple women. They gave the hermit money and tapers. With this information, Bedivere dedicates his life to praying for Arthur until the day he returns.
