Jim and Della are married and want to get each other a gift for Christmas.
CLIMAX
But neither of them has enough money to buy the other something.
FALLING ACTION
Della only has $1.87, so she sells her hair for $20 to buy Jim a chain for his watch. Shes now worried that Jim won't think she looks pretty since she cut her hair.
RESOLUTION
As Della prepared the table for dinner Jim walks in after a long day of work and is shocked that Della cut her most prized possession, her hair.
