On the night of December 27th, the colonists prepared their attack under the cover of snowfall. But as they were about to attack the clouds cleared and moonlight revealed their position, so the attack was called off.
A blizzard then came so they made their move then. Montgomery entered through the south along the St. Larence River. He aimed to capture a British redoubt that he thought was undefended, But it was not and he was killed in the attack while many of his men retreated.

While Benedict Arnold led an assault from the north, he was shot in the leg and was unable to continue the battle. His men elected Daniel Morgan to take command and continue the attack.
OWWWW! MY LEG!

Morgan pushed on with the attack but he and his men were surrounded, so they were forced to surrender. Ultimately losing the battle.
