Po smrti svojej matky sa dvanásťročný Rob a jeho otec presťahujú do Listeru na Floride, kde Robov otec pracuje ako údržbár v moteli, kde žijú. Osamelý, smutný a terčom dvoch tyranov Rob zbalí svoje city do metaforického kufra a zamkne ich. Robov život sa začne meniť, keď v lese za motelom nájde veľkého tigra uväzneného v klietke a stretne nové dievča Sistine Bailey.
