After Rosa Parks was arrested, the Montgomery Bus Boycott had began as a protest against segregation on public transport. Instead, black leaders organized black carpools and African-American drivers only charged 10 cents.

After a year of boycotting, their demands were finally met. Which was courtesy; bus seats were first-come, first-serve regardless of race. On June 5, 1956, the federal court ruled that racial segregation on buses was violation of the 14th amendment.
