so this is our topic for today. about the sea-floor spreading
Hey Ben , did you know that our ocean expands? but still it is not actually expands continously....
hmmmm.. tell me more about it
while the teacher is discussing about Seafloor Spreading. The students are listening.
Susie is telling Ben their topic about Sea-floor spreading. While Ben is listening , he become curious about it.
Susie explains , "At the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (and other places), material from the upper mantle rises through the faults between oceanic plates. It forms new crust as the plates move away from each other. "
Now I know more! Thanks Susie! The World of Science is so Amazing
"..The new crust then slowly moves away from the ridge.Seafloor spreading helps explain continental drift in plate tectonics"
"samples of the deep ocean floor show that basaltic oceanic crust and overlying sediment become progressively younger as the mid-ocean ridge is approached, and the sediment cover is thinner near the ridge" Susie answered.
What is the evidence of this?
After all of the discussion, Ben and Susie went home bringing some amazing lesson in Science. The Sea-floor spreading.
