During this time period, taxes were unfair and inefficent. They relied on the people who could least afford to pay taxes, The Third Estate. They were inefficent because taxes were collected by "Tax Farmers" who encouraged corruption.

On June 20th, 1789 The National Assembly found themselves locked out of the meeting room. They found their way into an indoor tenis court where they chose to pledge to stay until a new constitution was created.
In Paris, France on the afternoon of July 14th, 1789, a mob of people stormed the Bastille searching for gunpowder. Eventually while overwhelming the guards, they got control over the building.
The Women's March to Versailles was a step into democracy, when six thousand women marched thirteen miles searching for the king.
