Sam Houston was in his First Term 1836-1838. Things didn't go well he couldn't control his country and they began into run into problems including Money.
Sam Houston was making deals with other countries putting them in Debt. He tried to get others to pay off the Debt but they wouldn't do it.
Sam Houston tried to fix the Debt Problem by making his own money but it got worse so they had to take a loan from the united states. They never paided off the Debt. In the end he owed $ 12 million dollars.
