  • Imagery- The poem includes descriptive writing such as "O the bleeding drops of red, where on the deck my Captain lies. fallen cold and dead."

  • The author uses repetition in his poem like "O captain my captain!" at the beginning of each stanza and he repeats at the end of each stanza "Fallen cold and dead"
