How can trash from a middle of a continent end up in an ocean? How is it a problem?
Well, trash can end up in the ocean by erosion or deposition.
Remember: Trash in the ocean can also be based on our activities, too.
Nature can bring trash to water, too. Wind, ice, water, gravity, and more can also bring trash to water.
Trash in the ocean is a problem, because...
Water can pollute. We need water because...
Water is needed to live. Only a tiny part of the world has fresh clean water. Water is very important to us, and we are running out. This is a problem because we need to drink water to stay healthy.
The fish can eat plastic. After the fish eats plastic, it might choke and die, and so on with the other fish species, making less of the fish species. Then, the predator of the fish might die out a bit, because there is not many fish. Then, so on and so on.
