  • I am Jackson and I inherited the Tariff of 1828 from Adams. The south hates it.
  • The south imported more, therefore, it affected them more. it also decreased the British need for southern cotton
  • John C. Calhoun's response was State’s rights, that states have the right to not follow federal law and they were going to nullify the law.
  • Andrew Jackson's response was to send an army of 1000 troops and to hang John C. Calhoun.
  • Henry Clay convinced both sides to accept the Compromise Tariff of 1833
  • We both Won!
