The south imported more, therefore, it affected them more. it also decreased the British need for southern cotton
John C. Calhoun's response was State’s rights, that states have the right to not follow federal law and they were going to nullify the law.
Andrew Jackson's response was to send an army of 1000 troops and to hang John C. Calhoun.
