70 minutemen were being led by John Parker through Concord. When a shot out of nowhere was heard,, it's not called "the shot heard around the world" As the british marched through Concord, word got around that they were coming, and angry colonists who wanted their independence attacked the troops leaving 74 troops dead.
When previous demands went ignored the Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia to discuss separation from Britain they did this by making the Olive Branch Petition and The Declaration of Independence
