Exposition: Winnie wants to runaway from home. Winnie thinks her parents are to overprotective. She tells all her frustrations to the toad she found. Then, a stranger in a yellow suit comes up to the fence and asks her a lot questions about the woods and about a relative he is looking for.
Rising Action: In the morning Winnie sneaks out of her home and goes into the woods. She then sees a cute boy drinking water from the spring. The boy spots her and tells her to come out. The boy's name was Jesse. Winnie asks if she can drink from the spring. Winnie wants to drink it but Jesse insists she does not. Then, the Tucks kidnap her.
Climax: Mae opens the door to only see the Stranger in the yellow suit. Tuck protects Winnie from the stranger. The the stranger tells he owns the wood and is taking Winne with him. Then Mae takes Tucks forgotten shotgun and hits it on the man in the yellow suit in head and he dies. Mae gets arrested by the constable.
Falling Action: Winnie and the Tuck brothers break Mae out of the jail house. After, Winnie switches places with Mae she escapes. The Tucks have to say goodbye to Winnie. But Winnie has to decide if she wants to go with them and drink the spring.
Conclusion/Resolution: Winnie decides not to drink the spring or go with them. Instead she gives some of the water to the toad. Mae and Tuck visit treegap and sees Winnie grave. They realize she died 2 years ago.
