“Merry Christmas! What right do you have to be merry? Your poor enough”
<-- Scrooge Fred -->
If they’d rather die … they had better to it, and decrease the surplus population”
“A Merry Christmas to us all, god bless us!”
Scrooge is trying to say that there is no point for his nephew to be merry about Christmas because he is poor, but Fred pushes that aside and still remains merry
Scrooge is saying he will not give money to the poor and said they should either go to jail or to a Union House, but when he is told many would rather die he said there better off doing it.
Even though the Cratchits can’t afford the best Christmas meal, they don't care about the food but care about each other
Fred is trying to explain that even thought Scrooge has money, he doesnt use it for anything good and doesn't make himself comfortable. Meaning he has money but still is a angry person who has no heart.
“His wealth is of no use to him, he dont do any good with it, he dont make himself comfortable with it”
