  • In 1920, Congress passed the 18th amendment, which passed prohibition. This banned the manufacture, transportation, and selling of alcohol.
  • People often "bootlegged" alcohol by illegally shipping it in from Canada and Mexico on ships on the coast.
  • The 21st amendment was passed in 1933. This amendment ended Prohibition!
