This is an event that gives the Jewish people hope. There is news that claims that Germany will be defeated soon and there shall be no way Hitler will reach the citizens. One person even claims, "The Red Army is advancing with giant strides...Hitler will not be able to harm us, even if he wants to..." (Wiesel 8)
The Jewish People Are Taken Away
The Germany Army arrives to the streets, proving that the previous news was hasty and wrong. Elie claims, "In less than three days, Germany Army vehicles made their appearance on our streets." (Wiesel 9). They try to gain the trust of the citizens by acting friendly towards them. Majority of the people believe that the Germans are great people.
