  • NO MORE CZAR!
  • Different forms of strikes and protests broke out over Russia during 1905
  • WE WANT A CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY!!!
  • The uprisings were instrumental in convincing Czar Nicholas II to attempt the transformation of the Russian government from an autocracy into a constitutional monarchy
  • Bloody Sunday occurred making the people distrust Nicholas. In order to prevent more outbreaks reforms had to be made.
  • JOIN THE REVOLUTION
  • The Soviet Union was formed at Ivanovo-Vosnesnsk on October 13. It initially directed the general strike but as social democrats (mensheviks) joined, it became a revolutionary government.
  • The magnitude of the strike finally convinced Nicholas to act. On October 17, he issued the October Manifesto which promised a constitution and the establishment of an elected legislature.
  • INTRODUCING THE DUMA

  • THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE
  • The concessions did not meet the radical opposition demands for an assembly/republic. Yet, many witnessed the October Manifesto as a victory.
