  • I could sell my hair to buy Jim a Christmas present...
  • “I buy hair,” “Twenty dollars,” (O. Henry)
  • “Will you buy my hair?” (O. Henry)
  • Della sells her hair for $20, and she is determined to get Jim a nice present.
  • "It surely had been made for Jim and no one else." (O. Henry)
  • Della thinks she's found the perfect gift for her husband and is very excited about it.
  • “Please God, make him think I’m still pretty.” (O. Henry)
  • Della is nervous that Jim will not like her short hair.
  • “You’ve cut off your hair?” (O. Henry)
