Let's discuss more things about cell-Do you know, the number of cell varies from organism to organism?
1) MulticellularOrganisms made up of more than one cell. Examples; Human beings, Trees, Elephant etc. 2) UnicellularOrganisms made up of only one cell. Also known as single-celled organisms. Examples; Amoeba and Paramecium.
On the basis of number of cells, there are two types of organisms: 1) Multicellular2) Unicellular
-Generally, cells are round, spherical or elongated. Eg., red blood cells of humans. (Figure 8.4 a)-Some cells are long and pointed at both ends. They exhibit a spindle shape. Eg., Spindle shaped muscle cells. (Figure 8.4 b)-Some cells are quite long and branched. Eg., Long branched nerve cell. (Figure 8.4 c)-There are also some organisms and cells that don't really have a fixed shape. They keep changing their shapes with the help of Pseudopodia. Eg., Amoeba & WBC in human blood.
Do you know, Cells come in different shapes too?
Can you guess, which part of the cell gives it shape? Also, can you tell me why do cells come in so many different shapes?Discuss it with your teacher.
