Bryan gets in an almost fatal plane crash that kills his parents in the middle of wooded Canada. He finds ways to hunt, make shelter, and stay warm. He has almost become one with nature and communicates with the animals.
Bryan starts to feel his first cold, Canadian winter coming and begins to prepare by making a more stable shelter using mud, warmer clothes using the fur hides from his prey, and stocking up on food including moose, deer, and rabbit.
Bryan hears sounds that seem like gun shots and follows the noise. He finds a small tent with a little boy and a women inside with what seems like a father bringing back a small rabbit. He introduces himself to the family and helps the father hunt. When the family goes back to south-east Canada in the spring, Bryan decides he is willing to go with them and take a break from his life in the woods.
