Storyboard Text

  • Okay so here are the basics
  • in a chemical compound. the atoms that lose an electron..
  • Ionic bonds are when oppositely charged ions attract..
  • an anion, now let's not forget electrons have a negative charge
  • will become a cation and the atom that gains will become..
  • which means the more the atom gains the more the negative charge it will be
  • What about covalent bonds ?
  • they will covalently bond with other atoms to gain more stability
  • Now covalent bonds occur when pairs of electrons are shared by atoms
  • What about valence electrons?what are they? where are they ? how are they used in the bonds?
  • it is located in the outermost shell of the atom, that can be transferred to or shared with another atom.
  •  a valence electron is an outer shell electron that is associated with an atom, and that can participate in the formation of a chemical bond if the outer shell is not closed
  • The valence electrons are involved in bonding one atom to another. The attraction of each atom's nucleus for the valence electrons of the other atom pulls the atoms together.
  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, i get ittttt, let's get home so i can do this project!THANK YOU SO MUCH
  • THE END
