the war has been won but the king was dissapointed at the amount of lives that were taken to do so
Everyone at the feast was celebrating the victory but the king himself was not so happy. He wondered what the right decisions were and if he should've taken different actions. He had three questions that he needed an answer to.
the king gathered a crowd of people and asked them his questions: ¨When is the right time for every action?, Who are the right people to listen to?, and What is the most important thing to do?¨ He did not like the answers he got. until someone suggested that he take his questions to an old hermit who is believed to be wise.
The hermit lived a top a mountain. The climbed the mountain in a disguise. He hoped to not look rich and powerful so that the hermit would be more accepting to help him. Once he got to the hermit, he was digging his garden. The king takes the hermits spade and digs his garden for him. During he asks his questions the hermit gives no reply. Then a wounded man comes and collapses in front of them the king sees he is wounded and helps him. The hermit tells the king to get the man inside his hut.
The king woke to see the hermit and the wounded man and the wounded man apologizes and explains that he was on that mountain to get revenge for his brother who died in the war and asks for forgiveness. The king forgive him and restores his land to him.
the king asks his questions one more time before he leaves and the hermit tells him his questions had been answered and that the most important time is the present, the most important person is the one you're with at the moment, and the most important thing to do is make that person happy. the king understands and is happy again.
