Alicia Alonso was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1921.
She married at 16 and moved to New York City with husband study at schools of American ballet.
When she was 19 Alonso became blind. She went through three surgeries attempting to fix her eyes but nothing worked.
She became the first dance from the Western Hemisphere performs in the Union Soviet.
Alonso returned to Cuba 1959 on opened The National Ballet of Cuba and Alonso kept dancing all over the world and she was in her 70s.
Alonso taught students that became some of the best ballet dancers in Cuba many graduated in dancing professionally in the US in England.
