The Articles of Confederation did not include laws for taxing the colonists. This is talked about in Article V of the Articles of Confederation.
The National government did not include anything on trade so shippers could ship things in an out of the country without the government knowing.
The court system was not really existent, so criminals were not given a fair trial if a trial at all, so when a criminal was sentenced it was often incorrect.
