Storyboard Text

  • Ladies and gentleman, I have an extremely important announcement to make. China has just invaded Korea, one of our neighboring states. I fear the worst for Japan due to there being casualties in the Korean invasion. Since we do not stand any chance against China's large military, we will begin to enact Chinese policies such as a centralized government and a merit-based bureaucracy. I do not wish to go to war with China. Therefore, we must comply to their policies as a way to prevent any invasion from occurring
  • I, leader of the Fujiwara Clan, have come to inform you that the Fujiwara will move capital of Japan to Nara, where we will be styled just like China's capital, Chang'an.
  • My beloved people of Japan. Today, I will release a story I wrote by the name of "The Tale of Genji". This story is not just a melancholy story regarding Japan's elite, but a story that also deals with the psychological development of Hikaru Genji. I believe that this story will be one that readers will enjoy.
  • It feels great to be a daimyo, my prince. We are the supreme rulers of the land and the most privileged people of all of Japan. Not only that, but we also have our samurai to protect our land and property as well.
  • Indeed it does, my queen. I enjoy living a lavish lifestyle as well.
  • My fellow shogun, you will act as the next military leader of our nation as said by the emperor. I am already getting old as it is, and my bones cannot handle such combat anymore. In addition, I trust that this power will be in the right hands, but before I give you this power, always remember one thing. You are not above the emperor nor the law. Do you promise to use it wisely?
  • Yes, I will. Tell the emperor I give him my greatest thanks.
  • Are you all aware of your responsibilities and duties?
  • Yes, we are samurai, warriors at heart, loyal, frugal, masters in the martial arts, and give honor unto death. We follow the code of bushido now and until the hour of our death. We protect and serve our superiors and the land. We are samurai!
