Rachel arrives at the office and sees a boy who looks around the same age as her. She introduces herself to the boy, Jose, and explains why she is in detention. Rachel says that she hurt her friend Chantel's feelings and the principal caught her in the act. The boy politely listens and states that he is in there for starting a food fight in the cafeteria. Rachel was happy she had someone else to talk to outside of her normal friends and family. For some reason, he seemed like he really cared for her.
A few moments later the principal calls Rachel into the office and talks about her unacceptable behavior. Principal, Amy, said that if her bad act keeps on continuing there will be extreme consequences. Furthermore, she says that our goal is to spread positivity and not bring others down. Next, the principal says that she will have to call her parents. Then, she excused her to leave.
On her way out of school, Rachel meets Jose. They start talking up a storm and eventually, Rachel tells him about the recent passing of her grandfather. Jose says that he could tell she seemed sad in the principal's office and that there was more of a reason for why she was picking on her friend. Then, he started connecting the dots and stated that she may be suffering from depression.
As soon as Rachel gets in the car to head home she tells her parents everything. She said that a new friend of hers, Jose thinks she has depression. Her parents started to realize that it was true because she did not have any energy, motivation, and she had a loss in care for her appearance and in activities, that she used to love to do. Also, her sleep schedule had been messed up for the past couple of nights and she has had intense mood swings.
The next day, Rachel's parents signed her up for therapy. Immediately after two weeks, they saw a huge improvement in her overall performance, appearance, and mood. She goes to therapy 3 times a week and is prescribed medication to help with her mood swings. Everyone is different because sometimes therapy does not work for others. The therapist is helping Rachel cope with her grandfather's death in a healthier way to this day. Also, she writes in a Jornal to express her feeling daily so that she does not take out any rude or harmful emotions upon others.
Rachel is still suffering from depression today, but if it wasn't Jose, that one person that just decided to talk to her, made a huge impact on her life. It is important for those who are in a state of darkness or are in the wrong state of mind to remember this. Even in times of darkness, seek for the light and good will come upon you. Life has its twists and turns, but it is means you are just one step closer to the best life you can live.
