The motif is hunting. "Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood." (Golding 52) The forest represents savagery because they become consumed in killing.
Motifs are leadership and the fire. "The flame flapped higher and the boys broke into a cheer." (Golding 40-41) The mountain represents civilization because they came together to start the fire and made a new rule so that they can get home safely.
Motifs; Play and the conch. "Apart from food and sleep, they found time for play, aimless and trivial, in the white sand by the bright water." (Golding 45) The beach represents civilization because Piggy and Ralph found the conch there and Piggy told Ralph how he should use it to call the others.
The motif is protection. "If it rains like when we dropped in we'll need shelters all right." The shelters represent civilization because they are essential to surviving on the island.
Motif is comfort. "What a place for a fort!" I think it is civilization because they felt safe here.
